I began this uniform series last summer, and I’m so looking forward to the lineup of great folks that I have to share their uniforms this spring! The idea for sharing uniforms was born when I first posted My Summer 2024 Uniform(s). Some other profiles that stemmed from that first post are Hilary Oliver, Sam Shelton, and Will DeFries. It has been so fun to get a behind the scenes look into what people are wearing, using, and loving!

Mairin’s Uniform Picks
I am SO EXCITED to share Mairin’s uniform with you today. I first met Mairin last summer at her mom’s fabric shop, The Confident Stitch, and I immediately loved every piece of her clothing line. I can attest that her clothing pieces are easy to wear, durable, versatile, sustainable, and fit great. I wore the baselayers and sweater throughout the fall and winter, and I look forward to wearing them throughout the spring and summer. She has a new line of cotton garments out now, and I can’t wait to add those to my closet and daily rotation as well. Mairin is fun to talk to, leads an inspiring life split between Baja and Montana, and is effortlessly stylish and all around effortlessly cool. I’m so grateful she took the time to share her uniform recommendations with us all! Please take some time to visit Mairin’s Substack Newsletter, The Mindful Designer's Almanac, that takes you behind the scenes of her brand and clothing production as well as her retail site to find sustainably sourced wool and regenerative cotton pieces that will last you a lifetime.

I split my time between El Pescadero, Baja Sur, Mexico and Missoula, MT. In Baja, my husband and I (mostly my husband) are building a house and farm on a property we bought a few years ago. When we're in Baja, I try to spend a lot of time in the ocean surfing and open water swimming and exploring the mountains with our dog, Gallo. In Missoula, I split my time biking and skiing and hanging out and getting creative with my mom at her fabric store. I have a small clothing line and am a writer.

I own an eponymous brand that offers clothing from nature for nature, I work with other brands to source traceable and regenerative materials, and I'm a writer. When I love something, I tend to wear it over and over for years. I also have very little clothing. So although Baja and Missoula have very different climates, my uniform stays the same. My closet is a mix of clothing from my brand, a few pieces from other brands I work with, clothing I made, and vintage or secondhand pieces.
I've been so excited to release these pants, I've been wearing the samples non-stop for a year. I love my small sample, but I grabbed a medium from production and have been loving them rolling the waistband one and wearing them more relaxed.
I used to work for a brand called Christy Dawn and I really loved the t-shirts we made from recycled regenerative cotton. The fabric is a perfect thickness and they're naturally dyed. I love wearing clothing from projects I worked on because it was so much fun figuring out a creative solution to the cotton waste from our farm-to-closet project.
I shouldn't pick favorites and love all the clothing I release through my brand, but this sweater is by far my favorite. I wear it every evening, it's so soft and so well knit. (ed note: I looooove this sweater and wear it constantly, often getting compliments from hip baristas, so you know it is good!)
I live a pretty casual lifestyle, but when I need to look nice, I always wear the Vane Dress from my friend's brand Zii Ropa. It's such a unique yet simple design and the quality is amazing.
I have made a lot of clothing for myself, but by far my most worn is a pair of high-waisted double-front pants made with natural canvas. I used Merchant and Mills' The Heroine pattern and fabric from my mom's store, The Confident Stitch.
This is the last one from my brand, but a basic long-sleeve merino that is a boxier fit and is amazing! I've had a few slow downs with restocking the fabric, but hopefully soon I can restock with a few fit adjustments per customer feedback. These are mostly sold out but I have 1 more walnut and tie dye left.
I have a few Missoula vintage/ thrift finds on heavy rotation: Carhartts from Crazy Horse Consignment (Crazy Horse Consignment is the best!) in Lolo, a Woolrich button-down from the Sports Exchange, Ibex wool yoga pants from the Trailhead basement, and a lot of vintage denim from Betty's. (ed note: can confirm these are great spots for vintage and thrift!!)
